There's a lot of talk about the gas find with this well but very little mention of the oil find is mentioned on HC.

What's peoples thoughts on the potential for oil in the Nyuni block?

From the Aminex announcement:
"KN-1 also encountered minor oil shows in the Neocomian reservoir section, as well as confirming the presence of potential reservoirs in the Tertiary section at an earlier stage in the well."

And:

"Our exploration team has long believed in the potential of this area, both for oil and gas. KN-1 is a totally new, deep structure which opens up several avenues for further exploration on the licence and strengthens the case for oil on the East African margin."

And then there is this from page 21 of the Prospectus:

"Two exploration wells are planned in the 1,300 sq km Nyuni block during 2007, with the drilling of the first well expected to commence by June. The JV Partners are awaiting the results of a recent seismic survey before selecting the final prospect locations for the two wells. However, it is likely that the first well is to be an appraisal of prospects identified near the eastern flank of the Songo Songo Gas Field and that the second well will be a follow up to the Nyuni No 1/1A well which encountered strong oil shows but was abandoned due to drilling operational difficulties in 2004.

The Company's Directors have been further encouraged on the petroleum potential of Tanzania by the recent announcement from the French oil and gas company Maurel & Prom (M&P) on their gas discovery at the Mkuranga-1 well which reportably tested gas at a constant flowing rate of 19.2 million cubic feet per day (approximately 0.54 million m3) on a 48/64 inches choke. This discovery is located onshore but in the same basin as the Nyuni offshore block."
