For those with an interest, the NPV would be calculated over the life. There could be a book value in year 7 for plant, or estimated discounted earnings past known life. But I doubt it as it would defeat the whole purpose of the NPV.
NPV means net present value and is the value right now of everything that could happen. Main assumption being POG and POS. Also means if everything remains as-is, you can't earn anything else and any bad things just get taken straight out of the NPV. i.e. by definition you can't improve the NPV unless you put rosier assumptions in.
