Ultimately, it depends on your risk profile. I'm never critical of what people choose to do with their hard earned money. I recently had a chat with a work mate who wanted to invest some spare cash in stocks. He is a very anxious person. I suggested to him not to bother at all. He's the type that would stay awake all night worrying about what the next day will bring. He would be having heart palpitations on today's close. People should invest based on their risk profile and tolerance to risk.
