zonetrader, you might as well say when the facts are pointed out, and the lies exposed, some people say hide behind their claim that the 'don't understand the facts and prefer to believe the lies'.
It's not as if you're not given a huge amount of help to understand the facts. It seems to me that you just don't want to understand the facts.
You think that living on the coast is 'hypocritical' - and that attempts to make a transition to a new energy economy is hypocritical, others see is as rational.
If you want to understand why your arguments don't hold water, better not hide behind 'I don't understand the science' - much better to learn the science so you can understand it. Otherwise why post on the science forum - you're better off sticking to the politics forum if you feel you must continually post about something you admit you don't understand.
You managed to learn the basics of photosynthesis - global warming can be learnt at the same level. Increase greenhouse gases and the earth will get hotter. Control the level of damage by reducing CO2 emissions.
Or economics. Shut down the economy immediately and Australians will suffer badly. Shift the economy more gradually and Australians will continue to prosper.
It's not rocket science and it's not new science. (And science isn't developed by retired professors of political bent who have no expertise in climate science.)
