PRIME Minister John Howard has rejected taking part in another televised leaders' debate with his Labor rival Kevin Rudd.

Mr Rudd last night accepted an invitation from the Seven Network to debate Mr Howard with businessman John Singleton as chair.

But Mr Howard today poured cold water on the idea.

"We had a good debate two weeks ago,'' he told reporters in Darwin.

Most commentators and the Nine Network's "worm'' graphic of sample voters declared Mr Rudd the victor in that event.
