NSW needs its own gas supply and the world needs more gas supply.  From the latest IPCC report.....

"GHG emissions from energy supply can be reduced significantly by replacing current world average coal-fired power plants with modern, highly efficient natural gas combined-cycle power plants or combined heat and power plants, provided that natural gas is available and the fugitive emissions associated with extraction and supply are low or mitigated (robust evidence, high agreement)."

What a great idea .. Gas supply from the northern rivers region could help reduce GHG emissions, deliver energy security for NSW, help reduce our reliance on coal fired power and save the planet at the same time!   

Nimbinboy - you are great at coming up with unsubstantiated allegations about the gas industry.  Facebook, Echonet news, lock the gate and other "gastivist" websites are hardly reliable sources of fact based information.

The IPCC supports the gas industry, the European Commission, the British Royal Society, the US Environmental Protection Authority and the NSW Chief Society have all investigated the unconventional gas industry and found that gas can be developed safely.  But hey - when you live in Nimbin- why bother taking any notice of some of the most eminent scientists in the world when you can get your information from facebook, echonet news and lock the gate.

In any case - the Rosella well is a conventional exploration well just like millions of other gas wells around the world. It is by orders of magnitude a safer drilling proposition than deepwater offshore drilling in the Bass Strait which gastivists now say they want. Henderson has never said Rosella would be fracked.  MEL doesnt want to frack the well, has never applied to frack the well and doesnt have approval to frack the well.

MEL might be down, but its not out. In the end scientific facts will prevail over nonsense from activists.
