For some reason beyond my comprehension the Greens in Australia are campaigning on an agenda of "No new gas or coal mines". It's working. The latest research shows about 80% of ACT voters agree there should be no new gas wells. Yet as the chart shows,European gas demand is increasing. Most are aware it is even more likely Asia will want even more. Which brings us to two obvious points which the Australian politic seems to not understand....1. The atmosphere is global. 2. Demand will be filled by someone even if we don't.
For example, when the US/NATO aligned countries placed an embargo on Russian oil and gas the global market quickly responded. One country, Australia, can't expect to limit global gas use when the stats show an entire geo political block can't stop Russian oil exports:
