Even the Federal Labor Resources Minister can see the obvious need for gas: The federal government will release a discussion paper on its future gas strategy on Tuesday, with Resources Minister Madeleine King stating it will be important to ensure that demand for gas decreases faster than supply through the energy transition. King states that if the opposite occurs and supply decreases faster than demand, the consequences are likely to include high gas prices, supply disruptions and gas shortages. She says such consequences "disproportionately impact those who can least afford them", leading to worsening poverty and inequality. Bring on The Beetaloo, Australia's lower carbon gas field.
