    Yes Welkin31, renewables cannot absolutely guarantee base load power supply, and last week the energy suppliers said that once summer comes and baseload is under stress, it may not be unusual for power outages.

    Pollies talk about injecting money into business to stimulate the economy, how about making it dependable first with supply of electricity to keystone large industry that cannot afford any outages, not 1 outage, as it has such an effect upon their bottom lines, which in effect relates to employment because of industry scale downs or closures.

    Gas and oil will be needed for a long time yet, like your saying the garbage that gets spruiked by the Comic readers that believe that superman and transformers are real is unbelievable.

    That's why we have a gas shortages, because after the closure of the coal fired power stations, gas is the only alternative 100% dependable energy supplier. but hence the Gas drilling bans all over the Southern states.

    This summer will be interesting.
