    The shale industry is in its infancy in Australia, but several companies including Beach Energy and ConocoPhillips are developing interests in this country.
    Mr Kloppers was asked in August if he intended to spread BHP's shale interests to Australia and, while he indicated there was no immediate move in the offing, he hinted it was likely at some stage.
