CBA is already taxed (in fact all 4 majors are) in the form of a major bank levy yet they still manage high ROEs.
A similar levy on the oil and gas industry would probably reduce supply even further as the economics of any new projects would have an even higher hurdle rate when windfall taxes are factored in.
