Yeah they are just some ballpark figures to show there is value in the project.
Even with all the negative pressure on fossil fuels no one has any real answer how to transition to renewables without something like gas, not to mention there is always certain industries that rely on it not to mention all the existing infrastructure like gas heaters etc.
Toyota is starting to push for hydrogen cars on tv because most of Japan's power comes from coal and gas, and if adding electric cars to the road it would not only increase the carbon emissions but would strain the infrastructure hence the support for locally produced hydrogen then transported where required.
There is a lot to consider when trying to change our entire existing network to supposed "green renewables" created thanks to fossil fuels.
