Hi Dex,good reply.and I strongly agree! the book THE LAST OIL SHOCK by David Strahan does a very good job of explaining where we are with Peak Oil and the available alternatives in its first half ( later it gets a political bias) What is interesting to the lay person is not what reserves are stated but what is actually recoverable and some of the blatant manipulation of those stated reserves. One can concluded from this , with the urbanization in China and India that for the next 20 -25 years only coal and gas can fill the void, with respect to energy consumption. I believe 70% of oil is used in manufacturing, making it far too valuable for energy production. The world uses approximately 80-90 mbo per day, a reasonable find these days is 300mbo (deep sea look at the recovery costs per barrel). At the Queensland Gas and Fuel conference last year it was stated the Qld had up to 500 tcf of reserves. The Lucky Country !!
