Believe it or not, I was just thinking of the exact same comparison with Button this morning. Both were never leadership material, (because they don't look and sound right for the evening eound-bites), but both get the job done.

Ferguson is one of the 'old-school' Labour politicians who works well with industry, and so tends to be respected on both sides of politics. The right guy for the portfolio.
