I have no problem with homosexual people being able to join into a civil union recognised by government and giving them equal status to defacto & married couples, but it is not marriage and never will be.
Marriage as I understand it and want it to be, is the union of 1 man and 1 woman to the exclusion of all others, for life.
That is the ideal, that is the meaning of the word.
It will never change for me no matter what laws the government passes.
