WATCH: My day as a doctor at Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital
Al-Shifa Hospital is overflowing with both the living and the dead.
“We treat patients on the floor, on stretches or in hallways. There aren’t enough operating or recovery rooms and people have died because we have no place to put them up for treatment,” said Sara Al Saqqa, a surgeon at al-Shifa.
Men, women and children are amongst the wounded sleeping on makeshift beds on the floor.
On Friday, Israeli forces attacked the front gate of al-Shifa, where thousands of patients and displaced Palestinians have been sheltering. Other hospitals in Gaza have also come under attack and encircled by Israeli tanks.
The head of the Palestine Red Crescent has accused Israel of deliberately targeting Gaza hospitals in an effort to push Palestinians out of the enclave.
