The word Palestine comes from Philistine and originally denoted the coastal region north and south of Gaza which was occupied and settled by the Philistine invaders from across the sea. Nothing to do with the indigenous habitants. The Romans who defeat the Jewish Revolt at such a cost Tiberias army(legion) was almost wipe out and no future use as a force , in revenge the romans renamed Israel to Palestine.
