Schizophrenia is not split personality, a person with schizophrenia may suffer from delusions, auditory or visual halucinations etc but not multiple personalities
Sybil had multiple personalities, which is more a personality disorder most likely of the borderline type. Though there is debate about this, but usually tagged to a traumatised child hood eg sexual or physical abuse.
