Could also add that traders will sometimes use a volatility filter that will screen likely candidates.
It would obviously be looking for a contraction in volatility, which normally precedes a move.
Note on the chart, a typical symmetrical triangle pattern has formed over your period of volatility contraction, seen by the decrease in volume.
