Now that it has been restored, I have done a brief analysis of GCN's homepage at http://www.goconnect.com.au .

What a sorry experience that is.

Why? Here is a list of the links provided on their homepage, and an evaluation of their claims.

    1.
Soundcheck "The greatest online talent discovery network"- link broken.

    2.
Undercover - last addition apparently made in 2014.

    3.
http://www.uctv.fm - first item presented advertises a forthcoming tour of Australia by Bon Jovi - in 2013. None of the other items looks relevant to 2016.

Link to "Upcoming Developments" produces a blank page.

Link to "NEWSBREAK get the latest news on the go" reports that server does not exist.

Link to SharpEye (some sort of photo organising software) is not broken, but produces a page of links to irrelevant companies starting with the letter 'S'.

    4.
Link to iCheckWeather does work. So could this be a GCN company maker? Or will people prefer to use Weatherzone or BOM on their mobiles?

    5.
Link to The Business Show takes you to a few ancient videos - mostly concerning Richard Li's vision for GCN and the future of Priority One.

    6.
Link to jj5tv takes you to a description of Jermaine Jackson's long since dead and buried "mission to find 5 young talented musicians."

The onwards link to http://www.jj5tv.com takes you to a page of irrelevant adverts.

    7.
"Press Releases" lists only two of GCN's 31 reports to the ASX in 2016.

There are also links to lists for earlier years.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

I have tried to be factual and fair in this analysis of GCN's homepage.

Note I have restricted myself to the homepage, and have not explored the links in the banners at top and bottom of the homepage:

HOME, OUR PROPERTIES, OUR HISTORY, OUR PEOPLE, OUR PARTNERS, INVESTORS, ADVERTISING, NEWS/PRESS, PRIVACY

I do note, however, that 'ADVERTISING' takes you to the misleading statement:

    "WI-FI marketing
GoConnect's Free Wi-Fi Marketing Platform has been officially launched.

Flinders Street Station is the busiest train station in Melbourne City with daily commuter traffic of more than 180,000 people. However, the extended service coverage will see an estimated 350,000 people daily being able to access the service within Flinders Street Station and its surrounds.

Further expansion into Richmond, City Loop, South Yarra and Southern Cross Stations is expected in the coming months.

Melbourne Metro WIFI's advertising can be targeted to, age, gender and station location."

Yes, it is true that the free WiFi at Flinders Street Station was launched - but it died and all of the other foreshadowed developments were stillborn - long ago.

Finally, under 'Careers' we read that GCN are always on the lookout for talented staff. Given the above sorry story, let's hope they find some - and quickly.
