g'day bill.

For anyone interested there is currently a bill before Congress in the good old USA. Titled H.R. 909 it was first presented on March 3rd in the House of Representatives and concerns the energy needs of the USA. Congressman Devin Nunes tabled the bill (With the backing of 55 other pollies) which proposes:

To expand domestic fossil fuel production, develop more nuclear power, and expand renewable electricity, and for other purposes. It is a great read with some interesting facts presented. Its a bill in progress and may never be passed but nice to know some people who count are thinking along those lines.

An excerpt.

SEC. 162. 200 OPERATING PERMITS BY 2040.
Subject to the requirements of this subtitle and in
accordance with existing law, the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission shall issue operating permits for 200 new
commercial nuclear reactors, enough to triple current
megawatt capacity, by 2040, if there are a sufficient number of qualified applicants.

I have no idea how long or tedious the US govt process is but if its anything like ours it will take quite a while before either being accepted or rejected.
