Telstra has been building VPON a few years back and they have finished upgrading them to GPON before christmas last year in which we all know that it has the capacity of 100Meg download stream. And they are still building them in every new developed suburbs at the moment.
I have no doubt in my mind that it can be upgrade to 1 gig capacity in the future because the fibre is run straight to the house.
