Thanks for starting this kg; my take...

Talk today that Telstra may upgrade cable services in major cities to effectively compete with NBN. Planning for this has been going on for some time, so now apparently all TLS has to do - is to is press that button.

No doubt part of the ongoing negotiations cum War between TLS and NBN CO (aka K Rudd). Past week Senator Conroy unveiled the McKinsey Report which, surprise surprise, more or less fully endorsed an even cheaper NBN. Nearly all the Analysts who fell over trying to endorse it seem to have missed the fine print at the bottom, but after all round the Traps its getting tough enough to make a living, and Canberra is where the dough is now

Bit amazing really that there were so few questions and negative comment.
After all, most of the infrastructure planned for this network is already built; infrastructure already paid for by the Australian public in the guise of Telstra, and now to be duplicated by the big deal billions. Great for the fibre layers (retrained insulation guys?), but tough on the great Aussie public, doubly tough on Telstra holders.

But negotiations are not yet over; Conroy is all around spruiking this like only a top head kicker can, and with a lot of things re Telstra just hinted at or threatened at.
Kevin desperately wants this put to bed ready for the big event coming shortly; Conroy and Kevin really prefer to have Telstra in bed with them, so they and the NBN spin machine (and associates) are in full blast.

Be prepared for strange things to happen re TLS.
