Whilst I was very happy at Essendon's win I am worried at its seemingly lacklustre approach in the last quarter which nearly lost it the game, which could have occurred if Geelong had kicked for goal more accurately. Some have predicted that, due to the year long absence from the game, that such an event would occur, but surely not so early in the season.
Essendon was also fortunate that Geelong's shooting for goal in the last quarter was abysmal (twelve shots to four) and its skipper, Selwood, played such a lacklustre game; but his reluctance to chase indicated he may have been carrying an injury.But congratulations to Joe Daniher (the name brings back so many great memories) for such a great and inspirational game.

Bombers where electric for 3 quarters, might have run out of juice. They made the Cats look slow/old ? or for the premiership players just not keen enough until the last quarter. Without Dangermouse and Sellwood killing it the Cats look pedestrian.
