"Spade" has sort of gone the way of many terms common in the 70's. I wonder if all the readers know what it represents? As in black as the ace of spades..
I admit, that with the lack of capitalisation in the OP, that I first though that it was actually calling the mayor a "nutter" in the perjorative sense of the word...
