Is there a potential that buyers wanted to see what Gem had before deciding on a major purchase? I think if I had the option to look at 2 auctions before spending big money, I would. That coupled with potential grading issues could explain a lot. Buyers know the volume of stock on the market and based on that, I think the moving of the Gem auction has been critical to the MUS auction failing.

We can question the quality of stones MUS have, but in reality they are in close proximity to Gem.. I'll admit I don't understand the complexities of ruby geology. However, i'm guessing due to proximity of land, the formation of rubies is likely to be very similar in nature?

I do hope Gem have a great auction because for me, that would signal that the demand for quality rubies is out there. We have learned a lot from this debacle and I can see this coming good for MUS in the end. It's going to be a tough road but you live and learn.
