Just read an article in the Australian, saying that there may not be many male primary school teachers in future and this gender imbalance in the teaching profession needs to be redressed for the benefit of students.
Anyone notice how gender diversity is claimed to be a positive in the army, schools, parliament, boardroom, essential services, etc,. So much so that government intervention and quotas are often sought to achieve diversity - even if it's at the expense of merit and actual policy outcomes.
There is only one place where gender diversity (we're led to believe) does not offer any benefit .... the family unit. Apparently any two adults can raise kids and the children turn out just fine. Something's not right.
