Ionic Technologies
Terbium is the highest value and most heavily sought after of the magnet rare earths. Recent pricingof magnet HREEs has seen significant reductions over the past 24 months, with Tb4O7 trading forapproximately US$780 per kg, and Dy2O3 trading for approximately US$250 per kg. Recent highs ofboth HREEs where last seen in February 2022, with prices trading at approximately US$2,400 per kgTb4O7, and US$490 per kg Dy2O3 at that time.
Ionic Technologies commenced operations processing an end of life (EOL) permanent magnet froma decommissioned wind turbine generator. The permanent magnet composition included 26.7%neodymium (Nd), 5.4% praseodymium (Pr), 1.0% dysprosium (Dy) and 1.4% holmium (Ho).
Following the completion of process commissioning, Ionic Technologies has successfully separatedNdPr from heavy rare earth elements (REE) DyHo (see Figure 3) which will undergo furtherseparation to produce high purity Dy2O3 and Ho2O3 product.
