It's what happens when the brainwashing machine that media is hammers the same crap to people who can't use their own brain to see that their perception is being manipulated. People have become lazy and would rather believe everything they are told than use logic and reason. Another reason why organised religion has a stranglehold on people around the world in an age were mathematics and science rein truth over "my imaginary god is better than your imaginary god" rhetorical garbage. Fear and manipulation is a proven weapon to controll the masses, the "sickness" and "jabby jab" proved this.
