This is a joint venture for the refining side of the technology with regard to MREC/mining deposits. Both companies benefit and also reduce risk by partnering together. This is purely for refining MREC - any of the technology that IXR are still completing themselves at the Queens University regarding recycling is still exclusive to Ionic technologies (including the 3x new patents recently mentioned and the additional work with demagnetising etc.)
Tim always talks about which way the company could go but we are reducing our risk by partnering with different companies along the entire supply chain while gaining the exposure across the entire supply chain. Rather than trying to take on 100% ownership of everything the whole way (much more capital intense as well as taking on 100% of the risks), the business strategy is to expand and partner with others expertise. Without this JV we could be losing out on the downstream benefit of refining VMM's colossus MREC. By having the JV though we are actually reducing costs with regard to scoping study, then DFS and the FID while still progressing across all facets of the supply chain at the same time.
You are smart enough to know that it is quite clear by now that IXR's intention is to EMBED themselves with quality partners across the entire supply chain and be the glue that holds it all together - quite smart actually because it means we are arguably the most important part of the entire supply chain being setup.
If you read the capital raise from VMM as well they are now fully funded to their Colossus project DFS and FID at the end of 2025 and still with a small number of shares on issue/tight register. Although our % ownership has diluted slightly, a reasonable person would assume that the share price may appreciate between now and their FID (when they need to cap raise or get additional funds next).
Don't also underestimate Tim's involvement with VMM as well, he can take all of the learnings from Makuutu directly across to Colossus while offering the Brazilian government the whole package in one!

All IMO of course - oh and i bought more today. Might need to start loading up on VMM over the next 12 months now
