German magnet manufacturer Vacuumschmelze, the parent company of e-VAC Magnetics (e-VAC), is building a new manufacturing facility in Sumter, South Carolina, the facility is designed to produce 1600 tons per year of PM.

1kg of PM contains and VAC will need NdPr = 280g, VAC will need 448t Dy = 20g VAC will need 32t Tb = 15g, VAC will need 24t FeB = 685g VAC will need 1096t
Now for this Project with IXR, LCM & VAC
Under this partnership, VAC will provide pre-consumer NdFeB magnet scrap (swarf) to Ionic Technologies, which will use its patented technology to produce high purity magnet REOs from the scrap at its Belfast Demonstration Plant.
LCM will then use its unique technology to reduce the oxide to Rare Earth metals and alloys, supplying them back to VAC at the required specification for magnet production.
