And just to add to the demand narrative, the EU has passed legislation that requires 25% of all critical minerals (which includes rare earths ) to be sourced from recycling by 2030. The legislation also states that 65% can only be sourced from one country (That’ll be China). On top of that, the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East have greatly reduced ‘defence’ stockpiles over the last few years. These inventories will have to be replaced, and the longer they go on, the more critical that need becomes. Although, I sincerely hope both wars end immediately, the suffering is heartbreaking. Belfast is one of only 2 ports in the whole of the UK that has the capacity to host the special ships needed to decommission the turbines.
