Last week I wrote up a post Comparing Cyclic Materials which received US DoD Funding, this week we are going to look at Caremag who received considerable funding with huge claims, let's take a closer look at these figures

Claiming
As we know, a Magnet contains, so it's not possible to process and refining more REO's
What I find very interesting is If magnets contain approximately 30-32% recoverable REO content, Caremag's 2,000 tpa
of recycled magnets might yield 600 tpa REO, This means approximately 800 tpa of their REO production would need to come from
mining concentrates, mining concentrates for heavy REOs Dy and Tb would have to be the highest concentrations in the world? The production figures for Caremag appear ambitious given the feedstock quantities, particularly for the heavy rare earths
Using Ionic Model
Caremag from Permanent Magnets only assuming Permeant Magnets have the same composition of REOs
This is when it starts to get interesting
Dy/Tb oxides: The claimed outputs 500 t Dy, 100 t Tb) are not realistic given typical magnet and concentrate compositions. Realistic output is closer to 99 t Dy and 33 t Tb about 1/5 to 1/3 of the claimed values, Caremag would need much higher heavy REE content in their feedstock-or undisclosed additional sources-to achieve the claimed Dy and Tb oxide output. Don't believe or take for granted what you read in the news. We, Ionic Technologies model is transparent and aligns with industry norms and actual demonstration plant results which are realistic and correct, while proving the Technology with LCM, VAC and FORD.
