The MAGNOSTIC (“MAGnet demagnetization and Securing Technology for Industry Collaboration”) project is a UK Government–funded Innovate UK/CLIMATES collaboration led by Ionic Technologies to develop scalable methods for demagnetizing end-of-life permanent magnets ahead of recycling. It runs from August 2024 through August 2025 and is valued at £422 000, of which Ionic Technologies receives £178 000.
Ionic Technologies is playing a pivotal role in advancing the UK’s circular economy for wind energy through its participation in three interconnected initiatives: the RESCUE Project, MAGNOSTIC Project, and collaboration with the British Geological Survey (BGS). This will help Ionic Technologies in Securing Feed stock for the Commercial Plant.
Ionic Technologies integration into EMR, RESCUE, MAGNOSTIC, and BGS initiatives creates a synergistic ecosystem for sustainable rare earth recovery in the UK wind sector. By combining demagnetization innovation MAGNOSTIC, regulatory advocacy RESCUE, and data-driven targeting BGS + EMR map, Ionic is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the £100M+ annual recycling opportunity from ageing wind farms.
