Indeed, given the situation of critical mineral supply, there's certainly an imperative for the West to have an independent supply. And given China's advantages, how might western supply hope to compete and be viable without various government subsidies?
I think we're already seeing the answers, in tarrifs and trade restrictions as i don't see how an amicable arrangement can come from current circumstances where there's profit for all. At this stage, it looks very much like a zero-sum game and issues of trade blockages etc, while perhaps having some short-term, limited benefits, there would be reproductions.
For instance, when one considers its make-up, I forsee the circumstances of BRICS enduring increasing pressures given some of that blocks stated agendas, which may bring new and unexpected dynamics.
