I'm unsure Corribus how you keep abreast of the political situation in Uganda. So let me share some very recent, not so good news.

Very well-informed bloggers (google Fred Lumbuye - he publicly warned at least 6 now dead prominent Ugandans they were on Museveni's/Muhoozi's hit list) are reporting that the death yesterday of parliament Speaker Jacob Oulanya was not of natural causes. His father, who visited him in hospital in Seattle is making the same claim ( google Daily Monitor), as is the head of the Acholi tribe. Tribal allegiances and hostilities run very deep in the country.

The political situation is such that when prominent persons die in unclear circumstances accusing fingers are pointed at Museveni, his family, his personal security force (SFC) and cronies. Museveni is Munyarwanda tribe - many believe he is not Ugandan.

I'm bullish IXR so don't misunderstand, but the apparent assassination of Oulanya has put another fuse into the powder keg. The country might appear stable, but it won't take much to throw it into turmoil.
