Yep - it would be nice to cosy up to BHP and Rio.
BHP has the tailings challenge, down to the last 2 contenders. The aim is to repurpose tailings into useful products - I think one of the finalists is heading down the fertiliser route.
Looks to me like BHP will drop the water content by 80% using that filtration tech, and then hope that these finalists, if either or both are successful, will find a use for the remaining tailings. No room in there for PWN and a different sort of mess to the brine that PWN is tackling.
BHP is currently fighting a whopping great lawsuit over the 2015 tailings dam collapse in Brazil. It won't get any easier for them now that Bolsonaro has been kicked out and Lula is far more sympathetic to the environment. Yay.
