Why does anyone do anything new or different?
In my life I often try something new when I see it might be better, more cost effective, more profitable. I detest doing things just because they have always been done a particular way.
If heap leach is the most profitable option then they would do it. If it were the only option, they would do it. If it were available when the others started their mines they may have done it too, but it wasn’t.
Ore sorting is not completely new, but it is tech that has an exponential growth possibility in terms of downward cost, accuracy and capability. Heap leach is well established tech but also leaves much of the gold behind. The economics stack up because of higher recovery rate and ability to treat only the rocks with gold, much less chemical use.
I understand it is hard to hold the faith in new or different when others are calling you an idiot. But having an interest in Tesla since they first listed, holding lithium shares for 10+ years among others, I am sort of used to trusting my instinct above the noise.
Sure there is risk in new approaches, but where there is risk there is reward. If you don’t believe in it, don’t invest in it.
