If you look back through the posts it was discussed at length the topic of ore sorting (probably the period around xmas) I’ve put some stuff up previously about it. Ausenco in particular did a research paper on it.

My work is in the mining services sector. I’ve discussed it with some of the sales guys at my work previously. The technology most certainly works, it’s just mining industry can be slow adopters of new technology. It’s very dependent on the type of material you dig up and its effectiveness.

I did reach out to our Canadian Sales rep. ABH Engineering who are doing our SS are very keen on the technology. Brett Hilscher is known in Canada as a pioneer in the ore sorting space, so he’s like the country guru in Canada.

The thing with ore sorting is it’s only good in a green fields operation. Not a lot of our peers have used it (hence a lack of understanding on the technology) so it’s an unknown. I believe it can work, based on the test results at Tomra and discussions with engineers and technical guys at my work, but not everyone in the market has access to that knowledge. So it’s still viewed as a risk.
