An article from a German magazine today- maybe Antimony will actually be an opportunity for us:
Raw material for car batteries and nuclear weapons:
China wants to regulate the export of antimonyThe demand for mineral raw materials is constantly growing, according to a recent study. Germany is also dependent. Now China has announced strict controls on exports of a semi-metal that is important for armaments.
Antimony is a relatively rare element found in nature as an ore. Industry uses the silvery-white semi-metal in many areas: Combined with other substances, it is used, for example, to produce car batteries and solar systems, but also in the construction of nuclear weapons and military equipment such as night vision devices.
Now China, a major antimony producer, wants to restrict the export of the semi-metal. The People's Republic has added antimony to its list of restricted raw materials for export. Export controls for antimony will apply from September 15, the Ministry of Commerce and the Customs Administration in Beijing announced. The authority cited improved protection for national security and the fulfillment of international obligations such as non-proliferation as the reason. The measures are not aimed at a specific country or region, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce. He did not, however, provide any more details.
