Historically Gold has an inverse relationship with “real rates”
When real rates are rising investors will move money from gold into bonds. This is because bonds pay yields whereas Gold doesn’t. Lower or negative rates benefit gold.
Real interest rates is the nominal interest rate that’s has been adjusted to remove effects of inflation.
Im guessing investors are pricing in a rise in inflations is on the cards
Thats my understanding, however I have no expertise in this area!
