I don't think this industry really thinks in terms of "competition", they are all selling the same product at the end of the day, the only competition is in how cheap it can be pulled out of the ground.
Probably a bit early for a big player to buy them out, still too many unknowns, another couple of years worth of studies and a bit more certainty is still worth paying 10x our current market cap for another 20-25 years of production, IF, it still progresses as expected. If the 2025 PFS comes back and the NPV gets cut in half for whatever reason, you'd be the laughing stock of the entire industry if you bought in too early.
Due diligence is a long process, why take the added risk now? It will still need $50 million spent on it, why not pay $100M with no (reduced) risk in 12 months, the project isn't going anywhere.
Take my simple musings with a grain of salt! From a business perspective, this is still a speculative play, but that's exactly what we are looking for as speculators, If I had to stump up $400M, I'd want a few more details.
