Well its in the news that Carlyle have a lobbed a takeover of Santos at 28% premium to market. As I have mentioned earlier - australian local fund managers will continue to be outplayed by smart money overseas who can see the value in Australias energy sector. Unfortinately the herd mentality and quite frankly the stupidity of local fundies will be on full display over the coming years as they chase windmills, pour hard earned workers super into overprices American equity, and continue to be all snooty about the Australian O&G sector, whilst International money will scoop the prize assets of Australian Energy companies. Woodside is next in line.
Its a massive diservice to Austrlian industry and super contributors alike.
The same fundie clowns no doubt will be doling out huge bundles of cash for data centers- blithely ignorant to the requirement of having a stable base load power to run them. It does my head in.
Recent events in the middle East show the value in a geographically diversifed energy source which Australia represents.
Apologies for the rant. Back to TBN.
(1) Its a slim excuse that the IP30 will be held up because of ongoing farm in discussions with Santos, which are delayed because of this Carlyle bid. There should be no excuse to withold IMHO.
(2) Will be fun to watch our Green Energy hero company 'Squadron' explain where they are going to import LNG from RELIABLY , now the middle east shows how quickly conflagerations emerge. Furthermore, if indeed Squadon are looking at the ME for thier supply, it will also be interesting to see how they pass through the governments Anti Modern Slavery edicts recently adopted - to prevent the exploitation and rights violations of migrant workers. Having recently seen some of the requirements and questions on this, Squadron have fat chance of getting a clean bill of health importing from the middle east.
