I would think they fished it out before leaving the well, hence taking time to remove it and blowing out the schedule. If they couldn't fish it they will drill through it, if they can't to that then they would sidetrack. Bridge plugs are made to be drilled through so by logic the setting tools would too. Pretty sure you wouldn't leave the well with a stuck tool inside. I thought in his interview he said the well had be left in a safe condition, could be wrong though.
