Conocophillips will repackage the willow project with emphasis on the environment, particularly around methane emissions and this will address initial concerns from the Biden government re the willow project. As an aside, the news hasn't affected Conocophillips share price and they are about to go ex-dividend on October 27th.



Conocophillips may however have to rethink how they connect to the Trans Alaskan Pipeline (TAPS), given the Biden administration concerns re Russia and China threat in the Arctic Ocean.


Also the biden administration has committed to doubling offshore windfarms by 2030, the arctic ocean would be the perfect spot. This may be a reason why Hilcorp's project liberty and Conocophillips willow project have been put on ice by Biden.

In my view all of the above could turn out to be positive for 88 energy as Conocophillips may look to come down through 88 energy's project peregrine and travel east to project Icewine in order to reach the TAPS.

By doing this would allow Conocophillips to still extract willows oil, alleviate concerns re Russia and China and also allow for wind farms to exist in the Beaufort sea.

It would also put 88 energy in the box seat for a working partnership between Conocophillips and 88e.
