    I just don't understand how; if a stock sells at 17.5 at the start of the day and there is a buy for 18 at the end of a day (1 pip) there is no gap.

    But if sells for 17.5 at the end of the day and then buys for 18 at the start of the next day, there's a gap, it's still 1 pip!?
