Your last sentence summarises the situtation well. People are being railroaded into selling through fear, because as we all know for every seller there is a buyer !
Panicked sellers now have only two choices :
1) Buy back quickly and aggressively , or
2) Miss the bus altogether and maybe end up buying at much higher prices when SP momentum regenerates their confidence.
