I have explained this type of gap before but for those who missed it.
The gap type is an "inside gap" .
It is formed when the open is greater than the previous close BUT is less than or equall to the previous days high and is therefore "Inside" the previous days bar
In today's case that it is the difference between yesterdays close & todays open ie. 24.5 - 25.
The inside gap is totally different to the common or "Outside" gap which opens higher than the previous days high & is therefore outside the range of the previous bar / candle.
I have heard the argument on more times than I can count that this "gap" is meaningless & makes no difference.
The current closure rate is 92.3% closing in the first 6 periods after the event.
I think that I have conclusively proven that these type of gaps are relevant and do make a big difference in the big scheme of things.
Call it what you will.
I call it a gap & when I see one I am pretty confident that based on the statistics that it is going to close sooner rather than later.
