If you go to the Race website you will see all the senior people have new titles and not just Sophia. The decision was made by the Race board to move to an “american” style job title system and so everyone at RAC got a new job title except me and Michelle the CMO. VP just means that the people report directly to the CEO - I have 4 direct reports, 3 who are VPs and the CMO.
The reason for this change was so that it is easier for our American friends in the industry to know the role and seniority of who they are talking to at Race. As our international interactions have increased we found this becoming more of a problem as the Americans had no clue what our old job titles meant.
