YES, I have been made to believe it is still possible to dose a patient in 2024!
While I can't recall if it was explicitly stated, the information Dr. T has provided strongly suggests that it is. I distinctly remember him saying something along the lines of, “
If no one at RAC believed dosing this year was still a possibility, they would have announced it by now.” This implies that those close to the process at RAC believe it's still feasible. And frankly,
I trust insider signals over speculation from outsiders.
Dr. T also mentioned that if timelines change, the company will announce it publicly. Based on that, I think 2024 is still on the table as a possibility.
But, is it really possible? In my view, I would say “WHY NOT?” It all looks tight and overly optimistic, but why not?
Perhaps it’s better to under-promise and over-deliver, but the promise was made a long time ago when RAC truly believed we would make it. So, to turn around and try to promise less now is not sensible! So, they better stick to the promise until it is no longer feasible!
I get that some people want us to be told that we won’t make it simply because it seems unlikely, but that's premature and will affect others who want certainty. Lets remember that such an announcement is bound to be price-sensitive, and could crash the share price! What happens if, by December 20, everything is approved and a patient is ready to dose? If they’ve already told the ASX we won’t make it, will they then delay the dosing to avoid contradiction (and causing another SP swing), or should they just dose and let the price swing? Given the way information leaks, are both of these events really necessary?
We also know that doctors tend to be competitive by nature, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a rush to be the first to recruit, once the go ahead is given. Why wouldn’t you want to be the first to dose in something as monumental as this?
Delays do happen, often due to management! But if the doctors are pushing hard and are ready to dose, we could see dosing happen sooner than we now expect.
